signal

changelog

Signal is in closed alpha and ships most weeks. Shows the complete history of changes, newest first.

v0.5.0

Match scores, expanded opportunity widgets, and changelog

Introduced changelog feature as a way to publicly track progression of Signal, along with match scores and expandable opportunity views.

New

  • This changelog
  • Every opportunity now carries a match score across three axes: your field, your year, and your skills. An axis we have no data for is left out of the average rather than counted as a zero.
  • Opportunity cards can now be clicked when hovered to open a *expanded view* which holds full job descriptions (resolved from source posting), perferred skills, match score decomposition, and more. URL is shareable.

Improved

  • Postings show the employer's own posting date where one exists, so an age of "2d" means the job is two days old, not that it was found two days ago.
  • Posting age is colour-coded on a scale measured against how long listings actually stay open.
v0.4.0

Landing demo

Replaced bare login page with a landing page.

New

  • A public landing page at the root, with a live demo of the feed. The app itself moved to /feed.
  • Onboarding: new accounts are asked what they study and what they are looking for as a part of building their user profile.
  • Generated profile pictures using half-tone effect, drawn from your profile (potentially rework in the future)

Improved

  • Motion plays regardless of battery saver to ensure animations are synced between devices.
v0.3.0

Personal application tracker

New

  • Added Personal page which is now an application tracker. Saving a posting turns it into an application row that can be tracked through stages: applied, screen, interview, offer.
  • The stages render as a funnel that narrows as you go, sized from your real counts rather than drawn to a fixed shape.

Improved

  • Opportunity cards were rebuilt on one shared frame, so the feed and the tracker can no longer drift apart.
v0.2.0

Signal on mobile

First release that made every screen work mobile friendly.

New

  • A bottom nav button that appears on scrolling up, replacing cluttered sidebar rail on mobile.
  • The feed pages instead of loading everything at once.

Fixed

  • Motion opacity and translation Animations no longer flicker on mobile. The browser was tearing down the compositor layer a frame before the animation actually ended.
  • The connections graph now redraws when the window changes size.
